  5. About the “AppleSearch” folder

  8. This folder contains:
  9.  
  10. • current release of the AppleSearch Client software for Macintosh (v1.5),
  11. • prerelease version of the AppleSearch Client software for Windows,
  12. • current version of the AppleSearch Client API for Macintosh (v1.5), 
  13. • prerelease version of the AppleSearch Client API for Windows, and
  14. • updated documentation.

  16. IMPORTANT NOTES

  18. Macintosh:

  20. • The v1.5 of the AppleSearch Client is NOT compatible with v1.0 of the AppleSearch Server.  
  21.  
  22. • The AppleEvent interfaces have not changed from v1.0 to v1.5.  In order for your application to communicate with the v1.5 AppleSearch Server you must install v1.5 of the AppleSearch Communication extension and v1.5 of the AppleSearch Authentication extension.

  24. • The documentation mentions that the completion routine for the ASLogoff call is not used.  This is NOT the case. You must either set the completion routine parameter to nil or supply a valid completion routine.

  26. • All of the completion routines are Universal Proc Pointers.  Use the macros in ASClientAPI.h to create completion routines.

  31. • The prerelease folders contain software that is currently unsupported.  We have added these folder for your convenience so that you get started on a Windows versions of your software.  The software contained in these folders has had limited testing and DOES contain bugs.  Do NOT use the prerelease libraries to ship a product!
